Beautifully Broken Glass Art

Beautiful and unique broken glass artwork by artist, Kim Whitehead

Beautifully Broken Glass Art is a collection of unique artwork using broken glass, shells, and other recycled items by artist, Kim Whitehead.

"I love making beautiful new creations from broken glass and other things that have had a purpose. I want people to know from my artwork that we ALL are broken in some form. Whether our brokenness is mental, spiritual, or physical. It’s what we do with it that gives us purpose. When we give all of our brokenness to God, HE can create a new masterpiece and make our brokenness beautiful, " Kim explained to me in an interview. For a beautiful Christmas item, she creates broken glass crosses inspired by the true reason for Christmas.

Kim is originally from Mississippi and worked as a hairdresser with her own salon for 18 years. Art is her passion, multi-tasking is her superpower, and glass art has been her hobby for about 8 years. In August 2021, she moved to Elberton and immediately started shopping at Home Sweet Home. This month, she celebrates her first anniversary as a vendor. She also offers art demonstrations and broken glass art lessons at Home Sweet Home for creative types to learn new skills necessary to make their own broken glass art.

I'm glad that Home Sweet Home offers a space for all types of artists to showcase their work, and Kim's art is the perfect example of a new creative force in our community. When I visit her booth, it's like stepping into an art gallery. Isn't it lovely?
