We want to congratulate all of the students and adults who came out and played chess in the tournament. Each participant was extremely focused during the game and respectfully challenged each opponent. Win or lose, it was a fun event that was greatly appreciated by the community.

This inaugural event attracted a wide range of ability levels and age groups. Each participant played 4 games against an opponent of any age and the judge kept score of wins and losses. Cash prizes were also given and the winner selected a local non-profit organization to receive a matching contribution.

If you're interested in getting involved in the Elberton Chess Club, it meets every Friday afternoon at the Elbert County Public Library. Chess boards will be set up each Friday from 2:30-5:00pm, free and open to the public. All ages and skill levels are welcome! There will be lessons for beginners and opportunities to gain experience and get ready for the next tournament.
