Keep Elbert County Beautiful, A Keep America Beautiful and Keep Georgia Beautiful affiliate, is hosting a Great American Cleanup Event and a Document Destruction event on Nov. 11, 2023. The Cleanup Event will be held from 8 a.m. until noon and the Document Destruction Event will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Both events will be held at the Elberton Recycling Center located at 209 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
Documents accepted include old newspapers, magazines, check registers, receipts and other documents that are no longer needed. There is no cost to dispose of the documents but donations are appreciated due to price increases incurred by the group. There is a limit of five “banker-sized” boxes (12”Wx15”Dx10”H) or five kitchen-sized (13 gallon) trash bags.
KECB invites residents to bring their hard-to-recycle items to this event, including car and rechargeable batteries; electronics such as microwaves, computers, radios, fans, printers, appliances and water heaters. HP or Canon ink cartridges are also now accepted.
TVs and computer monitors will incur a $3 fee for small units and $5 fee for larger units.
Automobile and pickup truck tires will also be accepted. There is a $4 fee for automobile tires and a $6 fee for truck tires. Tractor and large truck tires will not be accepted. All tires must be off the rim or a $10 per tire fee will be added. There is a limit of five tires per vehicle.
KECB volunteers will help you unload your vehicle.
Paint, chemicals or construction materials will not be accepted.
As always, aluminum cans, cardboard, glass, metal, magazines, newspaper, office paper, and #1 and #2 plastic are always accepted.
